The costumes that win this award are generally considered the overall winners of the 2020 Halloween Costume Contest. Adults are never too old to dress up for Halloween! And now that your childhood days are over, here’s your chance to still get some recognition for all that effort you put into your amazing costume. The winning selections for this category are awarded to the top costume worn by those 18-years-old or older. To be considered the “Best Adult Costume,” you must add an extra level of detail to both your costume and description to stand out from the crowd. All costumes are fair game—scary, funny, and especially unique as long as your costume submission is family-friendly.

Best Kids Costume Best Kids Costume

The “Best Kids Costume” is for children, tweens, and teens from 4-years-old to 17-years-old in age. Get the help of your parent or guardian to submit a photo of you in your brilliant Halloween costume.

This is the one costume category where “cute” often beats out “scary.” As a parent, it is your time to give your little one the attention they deserve by showcasing their creative little Halloween costume. Entries submitted of your baby or toddler should be newborns through 3-years-old, dressed up in their own Halloween costume.

Best Group CostumeBest Group Costume

Gather your friends, family, or completely random strangers together to create the perfect group Halloween costume. Assemble your group of three or more people made up of all ages in an attempt to pull off this year’s top group Halloween costume. Your squad’s coordinating look could follow a theme, match a franchise, or simply complement one another. Whatever costume strategy your group chooses to agree on, your entry should include a story behind the costumes, how you know each other, and of course, some incredible pictures that showcase your group’s amazing outfits.

Best Pet CostumeBest Pet Costume

The pet costume category is sure to steal some of the spotlights of this year’s Halloween Costume Contest as this category is sure to have some of the cutest contest entries. Humans shouldn’t have all the fun this Halloween! So, get ready to dress up your dogs, cats, and other creatures you have as pets in adorable Halloween costumes. Any pet can be entered, and the more creative the costume, the better your chances of winning! Get your pets in on the Halloween fun by channeling your creativity as a pet owner and submitting an entry with some great pictures and a thoughtful description. Bonus points for telling us about your pet!

  • In your email include:
    up to 5 high-quality photos,
    the name(s) entered (Parent, Adult, Child, Pet)
    Your Email address and phone number so we may contact you. 
  • Please submit the original photos only, must have been taken during the time of the contest. 
  • Ensure your original photos are great in both quality and exposure, without any logos or watermarks. 

The following photos do not meet the contest guidelines and will not be entered into the contest:

  • Snapchat filters or screenshots: pictures of pictures (screenshot) or any artificial overlay (like a Snapchat filter) will not be accepted.
  • Selfies holding a camera: selfies can’t include your entire costume. Submit a picture with your entire costume in the frame of the picture.
  • Bad lighting, blurry, or pixelated: if it is difficult to see your costume due to the lighting or the picture's quality, your entry will not be accepted.
  • Too small: if your photo is not at least 800px wide, it’s really difficult to see the detail of the costume, and your entry will not be accepted.
  • Not Family-friendly: Ensure your submission is family-friendly.

Halloween Costume Contest Terms & Conditions 


NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. 

 

1. Eligibility: Submissions must be made by an individual at least 18 years of age or older as of the entry date. The Campaign is only open to the United States' legal residents and is void where prohibited by law. Employees of the City of Chowchilla(the “City”), its affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively the “Employees”), and immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of Employees are not eligible to participate in the Campaign. The Campaign is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations—void where prohibited.

 

2. Agreement to Rules: By participating, the Contestant (“You”) agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Rules, and You represent and warrant that You meet the eligibility requirements. Also, You agree to accept the decisions of the City as final and binding as it relates to the content of this Campaign.

 

3. Campaign Period: Entries will be accepted online starting on October 19, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. and ending October 31, 2020, at 11:59 pm. Winners will be notified by November 2nd, 2020.

 

4. How to Enter: Submissions must at least (1) a photograph within the guidelines, (2) the name of the individual submitting the photo, and (3) a valid phone number in which the individual can be contacted upon winning. Submissions must be emailed to CommunityOutreach@CityofChowchilla.org. The submission must fulfill all said requirements to be eligible to win. Submissions that are incomplete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the City's sole discretion.

 

5. Prizes: The Winner(s) of the Campaign (the “Winners”) will each receive a prize with a value of $25-$75 in Visa Gift Cards. The Winners shall be the individuals who submit one of the winning photographs via email. The Winners must accept the prize in person. The City shall solely determine the specifics of the prize. The prize is nontransferable.  No substitution of prize or transfer/assignment of prize to others or request for Winner's cash equivalent is permitted. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for the City to use Winner’s name, likeness, and entry for advertising and trade purposes without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

 

6. Winner Selection and Notification: The City’s Recreation Department will select a total of six Winners, with one Winner selected per category: Best Overall Costume, Best Adult Costume, Best Kids Costume, Best Pet Costume, Best Baby Costume, and Best Group Costume. Winner(s) will be notified via email and or phone within five (5) business days following the selection of Winner(s). The City shall have no liability for any Winner’s failure to receive notice due to spam or other security settings or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If a winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within 30 days from the time award notification was sent, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected. Receipt by Winner of the prize offered in this Campaign is conditioned upon compliance with any and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. ANY VIOLATION OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES BY WINNER (AT CITY‘S SOLE DISCRETION) WILL RESULT IN WINNER’S DISQUALIFICATION AS WINNER OF THE CAMPAIGN, AND ALL PRIVILEGES AS WINNER WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED.

 

7. Rights Granted by You: By entering this content, You understand and agree that the City, anyone acting on behalf of the City, and the City’s licensees, successors, and assigns, shall have the right, where permitted by law, to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use in any media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity and throughout the World, without limitation, your entry, name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image, statements about the Campaign, and biographical information for news, publicity, information, trade, advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes. Without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent. 

 

8. Terms & Conditions: The City reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Campaign should virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond the City’s control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Campaign. In such a case, the City may select the Winner(s) from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by the City. The City reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Campaign or website or violates these Terms & Conditions.

 

9. Limitation of Liability: By entering, You agree to release and hold harmless the City and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from: (i) such entrant’s participation in the Campaign and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware, or software, or other mechanical equipment; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or Internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Campaign; (v) electronic or human error in the administration of the Campaign or the processing of entries.

 

10. Winners will be publicly announced on the City's Social Media Platforms.
