The Chowchilla Police Department is a progressive professional agency comprised of sworn police officers and non-sworn support staff who strive to fight crime in a professional, proficient, proactive manner. Our staff is highly trained and held to the highest degree of honesty and integrity. Their compassion for the community they serve shines brightly in their daily patrol work and community involvement.
The department collaborates with surrounding law enforcement agencies as partners to ensure the maximum level of service for our community.
Code Enforcement
Code enforcement provides inspections, investigations, and compliance guidelines in the City for residential and commercial code and zoning violations. The focus is on the maintenance of neighborhood and community assets, thereby assuring the health, safety, and welfare of residents in all neighborhoods.
Code enforcement also coordinates the weed abatement program each spring. Property owners are notified to remove weeds, trash, and other material that constitutes a fire hazard. If a property owner fails to respond, the City performs the weed abatement through a private contractor and assesses the property owner for the incurred cost. For Code Enforcement call (559) 665-8600, Extension 525.
Police Personnel
Currently, the Chief of Police, the Commander, and four Sergeants perform administrative and patrol duties, and Police Officers are assigned patrol duties to respond at any given day or time. Other officers are also assigned as Detectives and Campus Resource Officers. Additional assistance is provided by Reserve Police Officers.
The department is supported by an Administrative Supervisor and Community Service Officers who perform dispatch, evidence, animal control, records management, along with many other assigned tasks.
The department also has a volunteer, Police Chaplin.
