Chowchilla Municipal Airport


The Chowchilla Municipal Airport, established in 1947, offers corporate and private businesses the opportunity to utilize the airport for business purposes. This general aviation airport is situated on approximately 32 acres on the southeast edge of the City of Chowchilla and is under the day-to-day supervision of the Public Works Department. General Information

Building facilities consist of 11 permanent T-hangars, 10 permanent and 5 transient tie-down spaces, 1 Fixed Base Operation (FBO) located on the east side of the runway, and 1 large hangar next to 2 portable hangars. Thiel Air Care Inc. (FBO) conducts his business on the airport offering aerial agricultural services to farmers in the San Joaquin Valley.

The Chowchilla Municipal Airport is an uncontrolled airport with no on-site supervisor or tower. Pilots are directed to check FAA Notices to Airmen (NOTAM) for temporary flight restrictions by clicking on link above or by calling flight service at 800-WX-BRIEF.

At this time, the airport does not have aviation gasoline fuel. The closest source for fuel is the Madera Municipal Airport, who sells aviation gasoline and jet fuel 24 hours a day. The Madera Airport is located three miles northwest of the City of Madera (approximately 10 minutes south of Chowchilla air time).

The main runway is 3,250 feet long with a lighted approach aid for night operations, equipment with visual glide-slope indicator (2-box VASI on left - R/W 30) which has a straight in, non-precision instrument approach, and will accommodate small twin aircraft. Runways 12/30 3250 feet long by 60 feet wide, 300 feet paved overruns at each end R/W End Data. Lighting, MIRL, VASI, R/W 30 only.
