The Chowchilla Police Department’s Animal Control Program provides regulation and control of animals as provided in City Ordinances and State laws. This program maintains the in-town animal shelter for impounded animals and strives to manage rabies control by enforcing the animal licensing ordinance, public education, and coordinating seasonal pet licensing and rabies clinics.
License fees per animal vary. All dogs four months and older are required to be licensed. The licenses are good for one year and expire on December 31 of each year. The annual deadline for licensing is March 31. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required to obtain a license.
