Community Facilities District (CFD)

Community Facilities District (CFD)

The City of Chowchilla uses Community Facilities Districts (CFDs) as a key tool to finance the essential infrastructure that makes our new neighborhoods great places to live. These districts fund the ongoing maintenance of streets, parks, lighting, landscaping, and storm drainage.

How It Works:

• CFDs ensure that new developments help pay for the upkeep of their own public facilities.
• Property owners within a CFD contribute an annual special tax, preventing these specific costs from falling on the city's general taxpayer base.

Commitment to Transparency:

We value fiscal accountability. In compliance with the Mello-Roos Community Facilities Act of 1982, the City publishes a detailed Annual Report for every CFD. These reports provide a clear financial picture of all revenues, expenditures, and outstanding obligations.
